Nervous System Reset for Confidence: A Guide for Women

A co-created feature with Elisa founder of Elisa.lotusflow.

Turning 30 is often the moment life accelerates — careers deepen, routines expand, and emotional awareness strengthens. Yet this stage also reveals an important truth: without a nervous system reset for confidence, even the most ambitious women can feel overstimulated or overwhelmed. You may notice yourself pushing harder while feeling less grounded, or achieving more while feeling less steady inside your body.

These shifts are not personal shortcomings — they are signals from your nervous system. And understanding how regulation builds confidence is the missing link most women never get taught. In this article, we explore why a nervous system reset for confidence matters, how it transforms the way you rise, and the practices that help you feel anchored, energized, and emotionally safe again.

The Backstory — How I Found Elisa’s Work

I discovered Elisa on Instagram one evening while winding down after a long day. Her content immediately caught my attention — not because it was loud or motivational, but because it was calm, grounded, and deeply human.

Instead of telling women to do more, Elisa spoke about feeling safe in their bodies first. She explained confidence not as an external performance, but as a natural outcome of a regulated nervous system.

As someone who is spreading recovery and sustainable energy for active women, I instantly felt a connection. Elisa is a yoga teacher with a Master’s degree in Psychology, and her work blends mind–body practices with emotional awareness beautifully.

Her signature confidence program begins with a first month entirely focused on resetting the nervous system — a step most people skip. That approach resonated deeply with me, because recovery and confidence both start with regulation.

Confidence doesn’t start in the mind — it starts in the body.

And that shared belief inspired this collaboration: a conversation between movement, mindfulness, and psychology — all centered on one truth: before you rise, you reset.

🧠 The Confidence Myth We Rarely Question

High-performing women are often told that confidence is about doing more — showing up, speaking louder, staying visible. But in reality, true confidence begins in the quiet moments where your body feels safe enough to let go.

When your nervous system is stuck in fight-or-flight, your body perceives everything — from public speaking to rest — as a potential threat. No mindset mantra can override biology.

In my community, I see this pattern often:

  • Women achieving their goals but running on exhaustion.
  • Professionals leading teams but doubting their voice.
  • Active women training hard yet struggling to feel restored.

The missing link isn’t discipline — it’s regulation.
When your body is calm, your energy expands. When your breath slows, your mind clears. And that’s the state from which authentic confidence can grow.

That’s where Elisa’s work shines.

✨ Q&A with Elisa

On nervous system healing, inner safety, and confidence that lasts.

1. Why a Nervous System Reset Matters for Confidence?

Many people jump straight into mindset tools or goal setting when trying to build confidence. You chose to begin with a full month dedicated to nervous system regulation.
What inspired that decision, and how does it transform the journey that follows?

Elisa’s answer: Great question, and to answer that I will cite a psychology professor of mine: “you can do therapy with a full belly”. And what she meant was that change, any change, only comes when we feel secure. If our nervous system is in fight, flight or free, it will always choose the old patterns because they are automatic, and the brain will not have space to make the change. If someone doesn’t feel safe not only are their reactions not emotionally calibrated, but their priorities will be that of feeling safe.

2. What are the subtle signs of a dysregulated nervous system?

Ambitious women often appear calm, yet inside, their bodies are on constant alert.
What are some physical or emotional cues that reveal the nervous system needs a reset?

Elisa’s answer: It really depends on the person. Typically, a dysregulated nervous system is seen in “bad decision making”, meaning people that are quite impulsive or complete paralyzed. Second guessing and feeling guilt over any decision they take. And this is the most obvious example. People who have learned to deal with, let’s call it “the first level of dysregulation, and act as you mention internalize much more the consequences, so the common signs become more subtle. For example, in their movements, how quickly they react, where their gave goes, how fast they reply or talk, if they play with the hands or body parts at all. And many of these are still very subtle. But confident people have no problem in admitting that they can still be triggered into an alter state but know how to calm themselves and bring themselves “down again”. You never abolish something you used to have; you just learn how to deal with it.

3. Daily Practices for a Nervous System Reset and Confidence

For women who feel too busy to “slow down,” what’s one practical, short ritual they can do daily to restore calm?

Elisa’s answer: It’s so much simpler than we think. Change start with minor, but consistent actions and changes. Most importantly we need to call in the “power of the mind”. If the intention is right the effect is right.
So, taking a 5/10-minute walk, focusing of the beauty around us, and that can be found even between skyscrapers and in the corporate worlds, can do a lot to shift out mind to a more calm and positive space.

Otherwise, 2-minute meditations. Those have changed my life and I still to this day use them to ground myself in super busy days.

4. How Resetting the Nervous System Strengthens Inner Confidence

How does this foundational nervous system work help women embody confidence instead of chasing it?

Elisa’s answer: Addressing the nervous system also helps understand ourselves and what our mind tells us. 99% of us have an underlying narrative centered on how we grow up. Whether it is “you’re not worthy, it’s impossible, it’s can’t be, it doesn’t happen to me” what is holding us back is a core negative and limiting belief. A calm mind is mind you can observe, by noticing your thoughts. The thoughts you notice you can change, because they have been learnt, which means we can teach the brain to think differently. The body on the other hand is going on its own journey. It’s a more subtle and silent one. With every pose you do when you show up on the mat your body changes, strengthens. As you work on you mind you are creating the space to notice those subtle changes in your body, until one day, not far ahead you will notice that one movement, small movement, you couldn’t do the day before and now you can.

That’s the start of the stronger and most beautiful relationship you will ever have in your life: trust in your body. Once you see your body you can never doubt your abilities again. As you combine emotional regulation (calm nervous system) and a body that can all you start seeing yourself as limitless and will allow yourself to take and create what you deserve in life.

5. If you could whisper one truth to every ambitious woman, what would it be?

What message do you wish women heard before diving into another self-improvement goal?

Elisa’s answer: You can! Whatever you are postponing, second guessing, wondering. You can. It’s a cliché but the only way to fail is by not trying. The road in front of you might not be easy, but if you want you can just about anything. But most importantly know that whatever you need to have to make it happen is already inside of you. You only need to give yourself a chance to let it come out.

But you can always come back to calm — and rise from there. 🌿

🧘‍♀️ Your Reset-to-Rise Ritual

A simple nervous system reset you can do anytime:

  1. Ground: Feel your feet connected to the floor. Unclench your jaw and soften your shoulders.
  2. Breathe: Inhale deeply through your nose for 4 counts, exhale slowly for 6 counts. Repeat five times.
  3. Anchor: Whisper one grounding word — steady, safe, ready, or open.

You’ve just told your body: I’m safe to rise.
